KidGen Genomics (GHFM)

KidGen are honoured to receive funding through the Genomics Health Futures Mission (GHFM), who have invested in genomics research under the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

This project will use advanced genomic sequencing, data analysis and functional genomic techniques to provide better diagnostic outcomes for patients with genetic kidney disease. The project looks to provide patients with advanced genomic sequencing and re-analysis of genomic data.

This project is funded to mid-2026.

Ethically approved through the Royal Children’s Hospital HREC/83945/RCHM-2022

Inclusion Criteria

  • Referral by a Nephrologist or Clinical Geneticist

  • Suspected genetic aetiology to their kidney disease

  • Non-informative result on standard genetic/genomic testing for the perceived kidney phenotype

  • Willingness to participate in the study

Exclusion Criteria

  • Non-syndromic non-familial CAKUT

  • Thrombotic Microangiopathy (TMA) with negative result from sequencing of a panel of genes associated with complement dysregulopathy

  • Primary auto-immune disease

  • Unable to provide informed consent or provide a sample
